This for me was the hardest day on all my Caminos so far. It was a struggle. I had eaten something that didn’t agree with me. I vomited a couple of times during the night, no sleep and everything ached.
Another pre-dawn start, making our way through the city under street lights. When we finally reached the outskirts, there was a very aggressive hill, that took us up to the villages that sit on the side of the estuary below.

We had views up and down, scallop farms dotted along the waters. There was only one cafe along this section, about halfway to Redondela.
The shade from the hill kept it cool as we passed through villages and woodlands, before dropping into Redondela, at which time the sun was out in full force.

We stopped for a cold drink in the town, the queue outside the albergue was already snaking around the courtyard in front; there was still an hour before it opens – glad we’re moving on.
Leaving Redondela, we baked under the sun, ascending the steep undulating path through woods into Arcade. We had booked an apartment today, and I was glad for it.
I pretty much slept from checking in until the morning. Still feeling terrible, I could stomach any food and still ached.
Even though the topography wasn’t bad compared to the hard sections on the Norte. That fact I was feeling so drained, unable to eat and all my muscles and joints hurt. It was a tough day.
